Researchers at Durham University tell us that a whopping 96.6 per cent of churchgoers 'look forward' to a sermon as part of their worship. I?m rather encouraged by that, though it has to be said a little surprised. The standard of preaching in the Church of England has, I think, taken something of a nosedive in recent years. My congregants might agree.
