  • Greetings from the land of the birth, ministry, death, resurrection and ascension of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. The third Global Anglican Future Conference (Gafcon) was held in Jerusalem in June 2018, a decade after the inaugural Gafcon in 2008. Gafcon 2018, one of the largest global Anglican gatherings, brought together 1,950 representatives from 50 countries, including 316 bishops, 669 other clergy and 965 laity. A unanimity of spirit was reflected throughout the Conference as we met with God in the presence of friends from afar. We celebrated joyful worship, engaged in small group prayer and were inspired by presentations, networks and seminars.

  • Ugandan bishops will boycott the archbishop of Canterbury's Lambeth Conference in 2020.

    The 10-yearly meeting is an opportunity to bring the 80 million worldwide Anglican Communion together. But deep divides exist between the 42 provinces, particularly over approaches to same-sex relationships.

  • Speaking at GAFCON's conference in Jerusalem, the British evangelist Rico Tice warned God would "take his power, his spirit and his gospel outside of the institution" unless Anglicans "submit to scripture and repent of our sin". He also revealed he stepped down from the Archbishops' Task Group for Evangelism after Bishop Paul Bayes affirmed same sex relationships.

  • The largest international gathering of Anglicans in 50 years is meeting in Jerusalem this week under the theme “Proclaiming Christ Faithfully to the Nations.” 1,966 delegates from over 50 countries have come on the 10-year anniversary of the renewal movement’s founding in the Holy Land to launch 9 new ministry networks.

  • Amnesty International has called on Prime Minister Theresa May and Home Secretary Sajid Javid to "commit to a time-frame" for a bill which could lead to the decriminalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland.

  • An anti-abortion group seeking to overturn the UK’s only exclusion zone around a Marie Stopes clinic, in Ealing, west London, have told judges they believe the council’s actions amounted to an illegal discrimination against their right to free speech and peaceful protest.

  • Fourteen SDLP members of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council have issued a statement saying they are "unapologetically pro-life" and against "abortion on demand".

  • Human rights campaigners have lost a Supreme Court appeal over the legality of Northern Ireland's abortion law.

  • Britain should "welcome and applaud" the collapse of the nuclear family, the most senior family judge in England and Wales has said. 

  • The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has told parliament that his government will examine access to abortion for women based in Northern Ireland.
