A British woman of Asian descent who was forced into having two abortions by her husband on the sole basis that she was carrying girls has spoken publicly about her experiences for the first time in an interview with the Independent newspaper.
The woman, who says that she now fears being pressured into a further sex-selective abortion after falling pregnant for the third time, said: "I felt I couldn’t make the choice on my own because if I’d made that choice....[my husband] would probably beat me up to such a state that there would probably be no pregnancy inside me. I was scared of that."
