Nicky Morgan, a leading figure and trustee of the Conservative Christian Fellowship who voted against same-sex 'marriage', was appointed as Equalities Minister and Education Secretary in the recent reshuffle.
This week, she appointed a prominent LGBT campaigner to be her 'personal adviser.'
This follows heavy criticism of her by gay activists in light of her opposition to same-sex 'marriage'.
The new adviser is former Head of Education at Stonewall, Luke Tryl, and he will act on both the education and equalities brief.
It is believed that measures to tackle 'homophobic bullying' in schools will be high on his agenda in his new role.
Andrea Williams of Christian Concern said: "Whilst all bullying is to be opposed and tackled, the creation of a category of 'homophobic' bullying is a trojan horse for further normalisation of sexual activity outside marriage between a man and a woman."
