Sex education videos will be given age ratings for the first time following an outcry from teachers over Channel 4's explicit DVD for children entitled "All about us. Living and Growing".
The British Board of Film Classification will decide whether sex education videos should be given a PG rating, and schools will be required to provide parents with information on the content of such videos before they are shown in classrooms.
Culture Minister, Ed Vaizey, said: "The new classifications will mean that children are better protected from harmful content and parents will have the information they need to make confident decisions about whether certain DVDs are suitable for their children to watch."
