Where it is legal, physician assisted suicide (PAS) "seemingly induces more self-inflicted deaths than it inhibits", according to a new US study.

The authors conclude that PAS does not inhibit non-assisted suicide but is "associated with an increased inclination to suicide in others", thus undermining one of the main arguments of assisted suicide advocates.
