A fundraising event to help send a woman to Switzerland for an assisted suicide has been cancelled after police warned that organisers could face prosecution for aiding suicide.
The two women were seeking to raise £8,000 so that their mother, who has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, could travel to Dignitas. Care Not Killing, who prompted the police investigation, has highlighted that what society should promote is better care, not suicide.
