Lillian Ladele, the civil marriage registrar whose landmark Christian freedom case reached the European Court of Human Rights, has died.
Lillian was told by Islington Council that she must perform civil partnership ceremonies, even though they violated her Christian conscience. Sam Webster of the Christian Institute, which supported her case, paid tribute to her "dignified example". "Lillian was a woman of faith and courage whose reward will be great," Andrea said.
