Christians 'squeezed' and 'smashed'

Printer-friendly version

The Guardian this week carried a number of articles about the rising persecution of Christians around the world.

The series included a summary of the 25 "most anti-Christian" countries, profiles of suffering Christians and analysis of recent trends. Lisa Pearce of Open Doors identified two stages in the development of persecution, namely 'squeeze' and 'smash', noting: "The squeeze inevitably makes the church more vulnerable to the smash when it comes."
