In describing the "Islamist extremist narrative" that needs to be tackled, he quickly moved to point to its belief that "homosexuality is evil". This approach (echoing his eerie claim that "for too long, we have been a passively tolerant society") risks combating one oppressive ideology with another, which punishes dissent from a new sexual ideology.
