Christian Minister attacked by Muslims
A Christian minister from Heston United Reformed Church, West London, has been assaulted by three Muslim men who ripped off his cross and warned: ‘If you go back to the studio, we’ll break your legs.’
The Reverend Noble Samuel, a Pakistan-born Christian, 48, was educated by Christian missionaries and moved to Britain in 1994. He holds debates with Muslims on his TV Gospel show. The incident occurred, as he was driving to his studio one morning to do his programme. A car pulled over in front of him and a man got out as if to ask him directions.
.
Rev. Samuel said: ‘He put his hand into my window, which was half open, and grabbed my hair and opened the door. He started slapping my face and punching my neck. He was trying to smash my head on the steering wheel.
Then he grabbed my cross and pulled it off and it fell on the floor. He was swearing. He said that if I went back to the studio they’d break my legs’. The other two men came from the car and took my laptop and Bible.’
Despite the attack and threats, Rev. Samuel is determined to carry on with the hour-long Asian Gospel show that is broadcast on the Venus satellite channel from studios in Wembley, North London. Venus Channel’s management condemned the attack during the show.
He expressed his fears for safety, along with his wife Louisa, 48, and his son Naveed.
The Metropolitan Police are looking for the three suspects and taking the matter seriously.
In June 2008, two full-time evangelical ministers, Arthur Cunningham, 48, and Joseph Abraham, 65, were threatened with arrest and warned they risked being beaten up if they continue to spread their Christian message in a ‘Muslim area’ in Birmingham.
The Christian Legal Centre is supporting Rev. Samuel.
