BBC News London report on 9000-capacity 'mega-mosque' rejection
The Government has blocked controversial plans to build a mega-mosque in east London. Radical Islamic sect Tablighi Jamaat has been campaigning for 16 years to build the huge mosque but ministers have upheld Newham council's decision in 2012 to reject the plan.
MegaMosqueNoThanks campaigner, Alan Craig, welcomed the decision, saying that it was a "very divisive" project. "This is a great victory after a long campaign," Andrea Williams added.
