Thinly-Veiled Threats by Muslim on Today Programme
Following the recent publication of a novel based on Muhamed’s child bride and the consequent arson attack on the home of the London publisher, Anjem Choudary was interviewed on Radio 4’s Today programme. In addition to being a trained lawyer, Anjem Choudary is the former head of Al-Muhajiroun and organised the aggressive protests in the wake of the Danish cartoons’ publication. Asked to comment on the arson attack, he said: "Clearly with the publication of this book, there will be a predictable reaction...the messenger Mohamed said that whoever insults any messenger of God they will carry capital punishment so this has been clear with the case of Salman Rushdie, Hirsi Ali, Theo van Gogh." Although Mr. Choudary did state that British Muslims live in a “covenant of security” with this nation so that they cannot attack the British people or their assets, he further condemned the book as soft pornography.
