Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has announced his intention to launch a legal challenge against the decision of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Parliament to pass a bill that introduced same sex 'marriage' in the region.
The new law will permit same sex 'marriages' in the ACT, irrespective of which state they live in.
Mr Abott will argue that the legislation is incompatible with Federal law, which states that marriage can only be between one man and one woman.
