High levels of intimidation precede Marriage Referendum in Irish Republic

Printer-friendly version

Core Issues Trust Director Dr Mike Davidson was invited by two congregations in the Republic of Ireland to talk about the coming Marriage Referendum (22nd May 2015) and impending changes likely to influence gender to Ireland’s written constitution this past week. Following intimidation against the hotel hosting the public event in Galway, the meeting was successfully held elsewhere. A conference was also held in County Tipperary on Saturday 10th May and preaching engagements all went ahead despite high levels of intimidation.

Mike Davidson, CEO of Core Issues Trust, said “we need to be in prayer for Irish Christians who view such changes as a fundamental threat to the freedoms of the Church and families unwilling to designate such a momentous change as merely a civil matter, having no consequence for the future of Irish society and the church”.
