The president of Ireland, Michael Higgins, has signed a bill which amends the country's constitution to allow same-sex 'marriage'.
This follows the result of a referendum held last May, in which Irish citizens voted in favour of the change. Now the necessary changes will be made to the existing statute law. "This change is a legal fiction," said Andrea Williams. "Marriage is created by God and can only be between one man and one woman."
