The Iona Institute based in Dublin, which campaigns for traditional marriage, has won damages of £85,000 from the national Irish broadcaster, RTE, over accusations in a broadcast debate that its members were 'homophobic' after they expressed opposition to same-sex 'marriage'.
The Institute has issued a statement saying the accusations are regularly made by campaigners for same-sex 'marriage' in an attempt to silence those who believe marriage can only be between one man and one woman, and that children should be raised by a mother and a father whenever possible.
