Fears that academic conference will normalise paedophilia
An academic conference took place in the States this week organised by B4U-ACT, a specialist group of activists and mental health professionals.
The conference hosted a number of academics from universities including Harvard, the Johns Hopkins University, the University of Louisville, and the University of Illinois.
The subject of discussion was reportedly how individuals who are ‘attracted’ to children might help in revising the entry on paedophilia in the American Psychological Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
B4U-ACT feel that the current definition in the DSM, which is used by mental health professionals in the US and across the world for the classification of mental disorders, treats ‘minor-attracted’ persons in an “inaccurate” and “misleading” way.
The organisation views paedophilia as simply another sexual orientation and want to get rid of the “stigma” associated with it.
Their website states: “No one chooses to be emotionally and sexually attracted to children or adolescents. The cause is unknown; in fact, the development of attraction to adults is not understood.”
The group also disapproves of treatment which aims to change attraction to children or adolescents.
Speaking to LifeSiteNews, Professor of Law Judith Reisman warned against the aims of the conference:
“I first met up with what I had come to call ‘The Academic Paedophile Lobby’ in 1977 at The British Psychological Society Conference on Love and Attraction, Swansea, Wales.”
“I delivered a research paper on child pornography in Playboy 1954-1977.”
“Other conference academicians, some hired by pornographers, presented ‘scientific’ papers advocating the legalization of child pornography, prostitution and an end to age of consent.”
“They promoted their ‘scientific’ claims for early childhood sexuality to lawmakers and fellow academicians via both legitimate and pornographic media.”
“The DSM is typical of this degeneracy since they already had lightened the diagnosis of paedophilia as to make it almost meaningless, requiring that the paedophile be ‘bothered’ by his and her abuse of children and so on.”
“We now have women and children sexually violating children as well as men. This will continue to spiral down into, well, we’d have to say the abyss of hell, unless we retrieve our laws, our mass media and our schools.”
Homosexuality was declassified as a mental disorder in 1973 after similar lobbying efforts.
As a result, academic discussion of the adverse effects associated with a homosexual lifestyle has virtually ceased amongst psychologists.
