On 7 January 2010, a Hearing was held at Macclesfield Town Hall for the Application for a Premises Licence Variation to "Lap Dancing - Full Strip" at the Repent Nightclub, 84B Mill Street, Macclesfield.

Dr Louise Brown, Policy Consultant for Christian Legal Centre and Rhona Marshall MBE brought together representatives from various churches, local businesses and residents in the vicinity of the nightclub. Also playing an important role was Margaret Charlton who organised a peaceful demonstration outside the Town Hall prior to the Hearing.

A variety of objections were heard and after adjournment by the Councillors of the Licensing Committee of Cheshire East announced their decision to refuse permission for a lap dancing/strip club on the grounds of:

1.       Prevention of Crime and Disorder

2.       Public Safety

3.       Prevention of Public Nuisance

4.       Protection of Children from Harm

An invisible army of prayer warriors also contributed to the success of this hearing. It was a team effort and an example of working together to produce an excellent result.  We praise and thank God for this outcome.
