Christian Union Banned From Student Union Affiliation

At the beginning of 2006, Heriot Watt University refused the university Christian Union’s application to affiliate to the Student Union on the basis that membership of the CU is restricted to those who are able to sign the declaration of faith. The Student Union says this is discriminatory. The University and Student Union are targeting Christian students who simply want to have the same rights as any other University society, to freely meet, self-define and elect leadership.

Heriot Watt tried to affiliate with the Student Union again this year but were refused. They are not giving up and are pursuing matters with the Student Union.
