Education

A child’s education is formational for life. Whether it takes place in a school or a home environment, it has tremendous power for good or evil, in shaping the character and values of young people. As pressures increase from LGBT campaigners and secularists, it is increasingly important that Christians are active in shaping educational policy and discipling young people. At Christian Concern we believe that ultimate responsibility for educating children lies with the parents, not the state. We campaign for parental freedoms and education that reflects Biblical values.

    A new report issued by the Family Education Trust has highlighted that some primary schools are being forced to teach sex education in order for them to be considered an official ‘Healthy School.’ The National Healthy Schools Programme was set up by the previous government in 1999 in order to encourage healthy behaviour and reduce health inequalities. Schools receive the Healthy Schools award if they meet certain criteria.

    Figures released by a selection of NHS foundation trusts have shown that almost 1,000 under-16s in their care have been diagnosed with venereal diseases such as herpes, chlamydia and gonorrhoea in the past three years.

    The World Congress of Families hosted a key conference on 29 June 2011. The conference, “The Future of the Family in Coalition Britain”, was held to help identify the causes of family breakdown in the UK and present possible solutions.
