Abort67, the prolife group, set up one if its displays yesterday outside the Department of Health. Abort67's displays educate the public about the violent reality of abortion by showing pictures of what abortion does to unborn children.
After becoming aware of the display Downing Street asked police to go over and investigate.
Abort67, a prolife group, are known for their graphic displays intended to educate the public about the true nature of abortion.
Whilst controversial, the group’s displays are lawful. Two members of Abort67, Andrew Stephenson and Kathryn Attwood, were cleared of charges relating to violation of the Public Order Act last year in Brighton Magistrates Court.
Police had arrested the pair in June 2011 whilst they were displaying images in the vicinity of Wistons abortion clinic near Brighton.
Andrea Williams of Christian Concern commented: “It has already been shown that these displays are perfectly lawful. The pictures may be offensive but this is because abortion is an offense – the precise point that Abort67 are making.
“Large swathes of the public are unaware of the humanity of the unborn child and the violence that abortion inflicts upon it. These images need to be shown to educate the public about what is a barbaric practise that needs to be consigned to history”.
