A mother has spoken out on Facebook about the imposition of ‘LGBT’ week at her daughter’s school.
Anna Erickson-Hull posted the comment after her daughter, Lily, reported that she was told to wear a rainbow badge or “sit detention”.
“You cannot force this filth on children…It is not lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender week in my house we will be serving the Lord as usual and NOT promoting sin so KS High School, you can keep your abomination badge”, she wrote.
She went on to quote Bible verses from 1 Corinthians 6, which list a number of sinful practices including greed, drunkenness, adultery and homosexual behaviour.
The post received hundreds of ‘likes’, but has been fiercely criticised by others.
Anna later added: “Not my opinion. Bible truth.”
Lily, who is in the sixth form at King Solomon High School, a Jewish comprehensive school in Redbridge, reported that all children from age 11 were told that they had to wear the badge or they would have to “sit detention after school”:
"Apparently all children from age 11+ were given one of these [badges] and told if they do not wear it they will have to sit detention after school", Anna's post said.
Other aspects of the week included students wearing rainbow themed clothing on Friday.
The school’s deputy head, Sam Walters, alluded to recent government guidelines on ‘British values’ as he defended the week, saying:
“As a school, we have a duty to prepare our students for life in modern Britain.”
Mr Waters, however, said that children would not be given detentions if they didn't wear the badge.
Andrea Williams, chief executive of Christian Concern, said:
“We need to wake up and realise how blatantly the LGBT agenda is being imposed on children in schools. It is promoted as tolerance, but this incident highlights how intolerant it really is. Children are being encouraged not only to accept but to celebrate sexual behaviour that is contrary to biblical teaching. How is that consistent with freedom of religion?
“Christian parents need to contact their children’s schools and find out where they stand on these issues.”
