Oxford University Chancellor Lord Patten has told students they must tolerate views and historical events or people they find offensive. He spoke in response to demands that the university remove a statue of Cecil Rhodes.
He called universities "institutions where freedom of argument and debate should be unchallenged principles". In 2013, Trinity College, Oxford apologised for hosting the Wilberforce Academy, because of its biblical teaching on marriage.
