The Prime Minister has announced that, for the first time, police forces in England and Wales will be asked to record anti-Muslim hate crimes as a specific category in the recorded crime statistics.
The move has been interpreted as "reassurance" to the Muslim community that the government's counter-extremism efforts are "balanced."
