  • A heterosexual couple have lost their Court of Appeal battle to have a civil partnership instead of a marriage.

Rebecca Steinfeld and Charles Keidan, from London, challenged a ruling that said they did not meet the legal requirement of being the same sex.

The judges said there was a potential breach of their human rights, but the government should have more time to decide the future of civil partnership.

  • Join me here as I argue that people in the west are in revolt against the dictatorship of virtue that has sought for decades to enslave them. The transcript of my remarks follows beneath the video.

As we never stop being told by furious commentators, Britain and America are descending into a neo-Nazi, xenophobic, fascist hell on earth. Britain’s Brexit vote was anti-immigrant. President Trump is a fascist. Steve Bannon, his senior adviser and formerly of Breitbart news site, is a white supremacist.

None of these claims is true. Britain is not anti-immigrant but against uncontrolled mass immigration. President Trump is not a fascist but wants in fact to restore the rule of law and respect for the US constitution. Steve Bannon is not a white supremacist but someone who believes in western national identity based on Judeo-Christian values.

  • This week, schools across the United Kingdom will be receiving free copies of Michael Rosen and Annemarie Young's children's book What is Humanism? courtesy of the British Humanist Association (BHA), following a successful crowdfunding campaign.

What is Humanism? is the first of its kind: a nonfiction book for upper primary and lower secondary pupils which explores humanist views of morality and ethics, the origins of life, and the relationship between religion and the state. It is intended for use in the classroom or at home to help children from all backgrounds better understand the mainstream non-religious values shared by record numbers of people in the UK today.

  • Nursing & midwifery are two of the most trusted and respected of all the professions. Unsurprisingly, many Christians choose to become nurses or midwives as a natural outworking of their faith.

But in a stressful, secular work environment, how do we practically live out our faith in Jesus? Can we share our faith with our colleagues or patients? How do we deal with difficult relationships in the workplace? How can we keep our spiritual lives vital and fresh when we often work demanding shift patterns?

This handbook is a modest attempt to help Christian nurses and midwives (qualified and student) to begin to address these questions for themselves. Whether you are just starting out on a career in nursing and midwifery, or have been qualified for years, this book is for you.

  • As someone who speaks from time to time on issues related to sexuality, and as a pastor who has written a book on homosexuality, I've been asked the question many times: "How can our church reach out to the gay community?"

I'm never sure how to answer the question. For starters, I'm no authority on "reaching the gay community." Our church has always had men and women in it who struggle with same-sex attraction. We have some good stories to tell and some disappointing stories, but experts we certainly are not.

The other reason I'm hesitant to answer the question is that it's one of those questions that can only be answered with more questions.

The couple said they faced discrimination.

  • randparents have long been regarded as the ultimate reliable and cheap childcare solution for busy working parents.

But a new report reveals that many find the task so daunting they regularly hire in babysitters to do it for them.

A survey by the International Longevity Centre (ILC) think tank and insurer Ageas has found that almost a quarter of all grandparents admit to paying for a babysitter, and among those charged with regular childminding duties the rate is 60 per cent.
