A woman who used an ex-boyfriend's sperm to conceive a child but then tricked her ex-husband into believing that the boy was his son, has been ordered to pay £39, 000 in damages.
The ex-husband, who is in his sixties, did not discover the reality until after he had paid £80,000 in child maintenance and spent time caring for the child, who is nine. The case highlights the confusion and heartache that can result from improper use of IVF.
