Scientific research has the potential to be used for good, yet UK law allows embryos to be created for research and then destroyed after 14 days. It also allows the use of embryonic stem cells and the creation of animal human hybrids. Yet at conception an embryo is genetically distinct from the mother and is a new, unique human being. All of the hereditary characteristics of this new person are established, including colour of eyes, gender and build. Unborn children should therefore be shown great respect from fertilisation. At Christian Concern we seek to defend the sanctity of life and raise a Christian voice in this arena.

On Monday, lawyers from the Christian Legal Centre will give evidence before the highest court of the European Union on the case of ‘One of Us’, a pro-life federation which previously challenged the court to stop EU funding of the destruction of human embryos. But their bid was rejected because the court did "not like the subject matter". Please pray for Monday’s court case, that the EU court would protect and uphold the lives of unborn babies.
