Bishop emphasises the vital role of parents

Printer-friendly version

In the aftermath of the shocking report of 1,400 girls in Rotherham being terrorised and abused over a period of 16 years, Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali has had a letter published in the Daily Telegraph emphasising the important role parents have in raising their children and keeping them from harm.

He writes that the tragic cases "reveal the dangers our children face from sexual predators".

He also emphasises that sex education which does not teach that the right context for sex is in marriage, is part of the problem.

Prime Minister, David Cameron, and Home Secretary, Teresa May, have added their voices to calls for the resignations of senior social workers, council officers and police chiefs who failed to act on evidence that gangs of men were grooming young girls and subjecting them to serial abuse, violence and threats.
