European Court rejects assisted suicide case
The European Court of Human Rights has refused to hear a challenge to UK assisted suicide law. The court said that the case brought by Tony Nicklinson's wife Jane, and joined by Paul Lamb, was "inadmissible".
Both Mr Nicklinson and Mr Lamb asked the courts to allow them help to kill themselves. But the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and now the European Court have upheld the principle that only Parliament, not judges, can change the law on the issue.
