For the second year running, the UK has a higher percentage of lone parent families than any other Western European nation, according to Eurostat statistics.
Lone parent families constitute 23% of families in Britain – as opposed to 7% single parent families in Greece, for example. Marriage Foundation Research Director Harry Benson notes, "By the time children reach their teenage years, nearly half are not living with both natural parents.”
