US Christian jailed for marriage stance

Printer-friendly version

A Kentucky clerk has been jailed after she resisted pressure to issue marriage licences to same-sex couples. Kim Davis, 49, said that her stand was "on God's authority" and was willing to face jail for following Biblical teaching.

A federal judge ruled that she should be held until she agrees to issue licences for same-sex 'marriages'. "This is the kind of intolerance and injustice that results from same-sex 'marriage' legislation," said Andrea Williams.
