Theresa May denies Christians are a target for counter-extremism measures

Printer-friendly version

Home Secretary Theresa May has denied that proposed 'extremism' powers could be used against Christian street preachers or those opposed to same-sex 'marriage'.

Questioned on BBC Radio 4's Today programme about the proposals, Mrs May simply said: "No, that's not what this is about." Andrea Williams comments: "Theresa May's response highlights the problem. The government refuses to engage with the real problem of the vague definition of these powers."
