Lesbian woman wins court ruling to claim parental rights

Printer-friendly version

The case of a lesbian woman who was granted parental rights by the High Court over a child born to her partner, has demonstrated the tragic results of abandoning God’s plan for marriage and the family.

A High Court judge has ruled that the woman’s role in artificially inseminating her partner with sperm from an anonymous donor and then breast-feeding the natural mother’s baby, has entitled her to be the girl’s “psychological parent”.

The same-sex couple separated after an 18-month relationship, and the real mother has taken the girl to her native home in Ireland, where she is denying her former partner access to the child who is now six months old.

“God’s model for family life protects the interests of children in particular and when adults put their desires to overcome the obstacles that same-sex relationships present, before the interests of a baby they want for themselves, they deny that child’s interests and right of access to its natural  mother and father,” says Andrea Williams, of Christian Concern.
