Scientists have unveiled a new technique that could allow the creation of babies with genetic 'parents' of the same-sex.
The process involves the use of 'stem cells' derived from human skin to achieve the first steps in creating new egg and sperm cells. The method could be used to develop stem cells to help treat diseases but scientists say that it also opens the door to the possibility of 'genetically-engineered' babies, including those created from two 'parents' of the same sex.
