The number of children being adopted by same-sex couples has more than doubled in the last four years, rising to 320 last year, representing 5% of all adoptions.
More than 250,000 people took to the streets in Paris on Sunday to express their opposition to "anti-family" proposals in France, including plans to legalise medical procedures that will allow same-sex couples to have children.
Earlier this year, the Methodist Church launched a consultation with its members on whether to "revise its understanding of marriage" in light of the passage of the Marriage (Same Sex) Couples Act 2013. The consultation also sought views on whether its prohibition on performing civil partnership ceremonies should be reconsidered.
