In December 2015, Christian street preacher Michael Jones was charged with two counts of religiously aggravated offense for comments he made whilst open-air preaching in Beverley, near Hull. Michael denied both counts.
Victoria Wasteney, a senior NHS occupational therapist was suspended for nine months after giving a Christian book to a Muslim colleague. Victoria then received a written warning following allegations of 'harassment and bullying' by a Muslim staff-member.
Christian nursery nurse, Sarah Mbuyi, was dismissed for gross misconduct from her job in a London children’s nursery after saying that marriage is between one man and one woman.
Street preacher Andrew Geuter was arrested in Hereford on 23 April 2015 after he was wrongly accused of making homophobic comments by a member of the public. He was held for five hours, during which time he was interviewed before being released on conditional bail. The police later determined to take no action due to insufficient evidence.
Street preacher Rob Hughes was arrested in Basildon on 4 September 2013 after he was wrongly accused of using homophobic and offensive language in a confrontation with a member of the public. Rob was held by police for 11 hours before being released on grounds of insufficient evidence. In addition to being interviewed during his time in custody, Rob was also fingerprinted, and had a DNA sample and a mug shot taken.
Christian worker, Nohad Halawi, was sacked from her job at London’s Heathrow Airport after false rumours that she was "anti-Islam". Despite working at Terminal 3 for 13 years, and having many friends of different faiths among staff members, Mrs Halawi, was summarily dismissed following un-substantiated complaints by five Muslim colleagues about her conduct.
Core Issues Trust, a Christian charity which offers therapeutic support for men and women dealing with unwanted same-sex attraction, was prohibited by the Mayor of London from running adverts on London buses reading “Not gay! Ex-Gay, Post-Gay and Proud. Get over it!”. The adverts were in response to those run by homosexual lobby group Stonewall, saying: “Some people are gay.
Gary McFarlane, a relationship counsellor from Bristol, was dismissed for gross misconduct by Relate after he refused to confirm that he would provide directive sex therapy to homosexual couples due to his religious beliefs. Mr McFarlane had never refused to provide sex therapy to a ‘live couple’ but had told his managers that if the issue arose he would discuss it with them.
Street preacher, Tony Miano, was arrested in Scotland on a charge of alleged breach of peace with "homophobic" aggravation after speaking about the Bible’s teaching on homosexual practice. Tony was previously arrested in 2013 for alleged “homophobic speech” whilst street preaching in London. The case was dropped following intervention by the Christian Legal Centre.
Celestina Mba, a Christian children’s worker, resigned from her job at Brightwell Children’s Home in London after being put under pressure to work on Sundays.
